paughng. prelude to paughng.

pong is a baby game for babies. if you are a DUMB BABY, you like pong, because flashing lights captivates
your terrible little baby mind.

since i myself am a DUMB BABY, with goals and ambitions and a
terrible little baby mind,
ive taken it upon myself to make a "pong".

since "graphics" make everything more interesting, here is a "graphics" of how i myself am a dumb baby.

paughng, first movement.

the clash of percussion, the title of "paughng". these things are intertwined. for my own dumb baby pong, i would eschew these pong naming conventions. i would create the first of its kind. i would create the tennis-adjacent sports simulacrum:

"paughng"

with my first hurdle behind me, lept over with herculean strength, i narrowed my eyes, dug my spurs into the soft flesh of my horse and continued my gallop into the second wall. this second wall would be a story. every good thing has a story-- the iliad, the brothers karamazov, and the simpsons episode about poochie, all have a story, a theme or central narrative thread that ties them together.

OUR CULTURAL DNA

but what would be the story of this "paughng"? it would be simple. a story of two households, alike in dignity. a story about the future without humans, where we have been replaced and experimented on, tormented and left forlorn. what better to pair with pong than with cosmic horror?

nothing. theres nothing better than that. shut up.

tennis adjacent sports simulacrum paughng takes place between two alien folk and their decapitated computer programming friend. like a midsummer spot of badminton, these alien folk bat the head of their human friend back and forth.

first concept sketch of "paughng". the aliens are the paddle, the head is the ball.

paughng, second movement.

this first concept would prove rickety, and would need further revision. although hotly contested, paughng revisionism is essential for the relevant analysis of paughng and how to apply its political doctrine to revolution. this second version wouldnt see much change to the one and only human of the story, his head changing from a rounded shape to more of a block, but the aesthetics and visual sense of the aliens were retooled to fit a motif inspired by masaaki yuasas kaiba, a series from a director i have a lot of respect for.

something to admire about kaiba, and masaaki yuasas work in general, is how much it ignores the visual cliches of certain genres.

hey.

paughng is done. you can play it if you click this hypertext link.
